WHAT TO EXPECT
The 20% TCA Peel is a medium strength peel, but it should be noted that TCA is stronger than other peels so moderate to significant peeling is expected. When the peel is applied you may feel a stinging sensation as the acid penetrates the skin. You can use a fan or an ice pack to alleviate any discomfort.
If the peel was layered during application and left on long enough, then frosting may occur. Frosting is when the peel changes from clear to white during a chemical peel procedure. This indicates that the acid has penetrated the skin sufficiently and it is now time to neutralize. During the healing process it is common for the frosted areas to darken before peeling off.
The peeling typically starts 2-5 days after the peel procedure. During the healing process you can expect downtime and interruption of public activities. The duration of downtime varies according to the individual.
